Performance Under Pressure:

Using Team Dynamics to Mitigate the Stress Response
Location: College of Nursing, RM 2600,
Date/Time: Friday, April 24, 2026 from 8:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Zachary Drapkin, MD: Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Utah Dr. Drapkin is a practicing General and Pediatric Emergency Physician. His interests include optimizing team performance in critical care situations, and he is an expert in team communication and conflict management. Drapkin has hosted multiple workshops and simulations on high stakes communication during resuscitations at various institutions and is a regular contributor to EM:RAP, an Emergency Medicine podcast with more than 60,000 subscribers.
Josh Logan, RN: Nurse clinician, Primary Children’s Hospital
Josh Logan is a nurse clinician at Primary Children’s Hospital and serves as Nurse Representative for Pediatric Emergency Response for the Intermountain Health System. With a unique background that combines nursing, mechanical engineering, medical simulation, and quality improvement, Josh brings a multidisciplinary approach to healthcare education. Josh created and manages the Primary Children’s Hospital’s innovative CPR coach program, which trains nurses to lead high-performance resuscitations. Josh was recently awarded Emergency Department Clinical Coach of the year at Primary Children’s Hospital.
8:00 AM – 9:15 AM: Performance Under Pressure: Using Team Dynamics to Mitigate the Stress Response Room 2600, College of NursingAn interactive workshop covering skills necessary to optimize individual and team performance under stress
9:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Simulation Based Deliberate Practice
College of Nursing Medical Simulation Lab
Rapid cycle, deliberate practice in a high-fidelity simulation lab focused on fostering optimal team dynamics. Team members will encounter successive artificial constraints that will force the utilization and practice of optimal team dynamics. Debriefs will focus on how team dynamics impacted the resuscitation.
